How to quote as a mobile valeter or detailer
6 August 2026
Detailing has a no-show problem and a "while you're here" problem. Both are quoting problems in disguise.
Sell packages, quote add-ons
A menu of three packages — say Maintenance, Enhancement, Full Correction — makes choosing easy. But quote the specific car: "Stage 1 polish, VW Golf, £180. Add ceramic sealant £70." The customer sees a decision, not a price list.
Take a deposit for the slot
A mobile detailer's stock is time. A £30 deposit on booking, stated in the quote, filters out the customers who were never going to be home. Put the cancellation window in writing too: "Deposit refundable up to 48 hours before."
Photograph and note the condition
Your quote's description is also your protection: "Heavy swirling on bonnet, kerbed nearside wheels noted." Signed before you start, that line ends the "you scratched it" conversation before it begins.
Scope creep pays — if it's written down
"Can you just do the interior too?" is money on the table. Send a one-line revised quote from your phone and get the extra signed, instead of a favour that turns into an expectation.
