Does my customer need an account or an app to sign a quote?
No. They tap the link you send, read the quote in their browser, and sign with their finger. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
Is a quote signed on a phone legally binding in the UK?
Electronic signatures are valid for contracts like these under UK law. QuoteNod also records what was signed, when, and by whom, and seals the record so any change is detectable — which is the part that matters in a dispute.
Can I take a deposit or offer a payment plan on a quote?
Yes. Set your deposit and your schedule; your customer chooses pay-in-full or the plan when they sign. QuoteNod then runs the plan: a payment link for every payment, a reminder the day before and on the day, and a nudge to you the morning anything goes late. Your customer pays through your own Stripe or GoCardless account, or by bank transfer — QuoteNod never holds the money.
How are payment plans charged?
£1.25 per payment, or £0.65 on a payment of £50 or less, as each one is made — so a plan of four payments of £100 is £5 in QuoteNod fees. It is taken automatically by your own Stripe or GoCardless account, on top of their own fee. Payments that never happen carry no fee, and fees are not refundable.
When does QuoteNod take its fees?
A payment fee is taken at the moment each online payment is made: your Stripe or GoCardless account takes QuoteNod’s fee (£1.25 on a payment over £50, or £0.65 on £50 or under) out of the payment before paying you. The same fee on a payment you record as taken on your own card reader is added to your QuoteNod fees and collected from your card every 48 hours. A contract fee, when there is one, is added to your next subscription bill.
Is there anything else to pay?
Only what is on the pricing page: the subscription (from £12/month or £115/year after the free trial — Solo for one person, Crew for up to five, Firm for up to fifteen); £1.25 on each payment over £50 your customer makes online or you record on your own card reader (£0.65 on £50 or under); and £1 for a signed contract whose job is not paid through a payment link. There is no set-up fee, no charge for sending quotes, and nothing is ever added to what your customer pays. Every charge is listed in the app against the job it came from. If a price ever goes up, you get at least 30 days’ notice by email, and a renewal that falls inside those 30 days is charged at the old price.
Why is there a £1 contract fee?
Every signed quote gets a tamper-evident contract record and signed PDFs for you and your customer. When the job is paid through a payment link, that payment’s fee covers it and there is no contract fee. When the job is paid another way — cash, a bank transfer, a cheque, your own card reader, or nothing within 30 days of signing — the contract fee is £1, added to your next bill.
Why payment links rather than Direct Debit?
A bank payment through a link reaches you sooner than the 3 working days or so a Direct Debit takes, cannot be claimed back under the Direct Debit Guarantee, and never bounces with a failed-payment charge. Your customer approves each payment, and QuoteNod reminds them the day before, on the day, and if it is late.
What is the difference between a quote and an estimate?
A quote is a fixed price for a defined job; once accepted, it is the price. An estimate is a rough figure that can change. QuoteNod produces quotes with terms attached, so both sides know exactly what was agreed before the work starts.
What happens when my free trial ends?
After 14 days you choose a package: Solo at £12 a month for one person, Crew at £29 for up to five, or Firm at £59 for up to fifteen (two months free paid yearly). If you don't subscribe, you can't send new quotes — but everything you've created stays readable and you can export it anytime.
What if I cancel?
Cancel in two taps from your billing page. Your data stays yours: export every quote, signature record and invoice as a ZIP, or ask us to delete the lot.
