Your customers can pay you online through an account of your own with Stripe, GoCardless, or both. Connect whichever you like when you set up, and add or remove one later in Settings → Getting paid. The money goes to you, never to QuoteNod, and your bank details stay on every invoice as the other way to pay.

  1. Stripe lets your customer pay by bank or by card. Stripe’s fee is 0.5% + 20p for a bank payment, never more than £5 — but 1.5% + 20p for a card, with no cap. On a £5,000 payment that is £5.00 by bank and £75.20 by card. Stripe takes up to £10,000 in one payment.

  2. GoCardless is bank payments only. Its fee is 1% + 20p, never more than £4 — £4.00 on a £5,000 payment. GoCardless takes up to £25,000 in one payment, and pays you the same working day if the payment is made before 11am.

  3. Connect both and any payment over £10,000 goes through GoCardless automatically, up to £25,000, whichever you choose as your default. Everything else goes through your default — press Make … my default to change it.

  4. Anything bigger than your connected providers take in one go: your customer is shown your bank details and pays you by bank transfer instead.

  5. Press Connect Stripe or Connect GoCardless, sign in to that provider (or open an account) and you are brought back to QuoteNod connected. With Stripe there is one more step: turn on Pay by Bank — see the next guide.

QuoteNod’s fee is £1.25 per payment over £50, or £0.65 on a payment of £50 or under, taken automatically by your provider as each payment is made, on top of their own fee — a plan of 4 payments of £100 is £5. There is nothing to pay QuoteNod separately for a payment through a link. A payment you record as taken on your own card reader carries the same fee, added to your usage fees; cash, cheques and bank transfers carry none. A signed contract whose job is not paid through a link — cash, a cheque, a bank transfer, your own card reader — carries the £1 contract fee, added to your next bill. See Why payment links, not Direct Debit? on the same Settings page for why QuoteNod sends links.
